Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST)
The 2017-2018 nomination and application windows for the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) program are now open. Teachers of grades K-6 mathematics and science are encouraged to sign up to apply. The PAEMST awards are the nation's highest honors for teachers of mathematics and science. Awardees serve as models for their colleagues, inspiration to their communities, and leaders in the improvement of mathematics and science education. The National Science Foundation administers PAEMST on the behalf of The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.
The 2017-2018 nomination window will close on April 1, 2018, and the application window will close on May 1, 2018. Teachers may be nominated for the award or may apply themselves atwww.paemst.org. If you know great teachers, encourage them to join this prestigious network of professionals. In Texas, eligible teachers who submit a completed application by May 1, 2018 will receive 25 CPE hours.

Streamlined Science TEKS
The State Board of Education (SBOE) gave final approval on April 21, 2017, to the streamlined science TEKS for K-8 science and four high school science courses. The streamlined TEKS will be implemented in classrooms beginning with the 2018-2019 school year. You can access the revised TEKS here.

TSELA Outstanding Leadership in Science Education Award - Due by October 2018
This prestigious award recognizes and honors a TSELA member, who through their professional work, has demonstrated outstanding leadership in science education at the school, district, county, regional, and/or state level.
The award is presented at the TSELA meeting at CAST. The award is accompanied by a check for $750 and a plaque donated by Delta Education/FOSS/Frey/CPO.
